Job vacancies

Job vacancies in the public sector must be advertised, whereas private companies are exempt from this requirement.

Job vacancies within the public sector

Public sector employers are required by law to advertise job vacancies.

Job vacancies, including within the health services, are published by government services on the following website: Starfatorg

The City of Reykjavik also provides a list of available job vacancies.

Public employment services

The Directorate of Labour operates a public employment agency that offers comprehensive support to jobseekers, irrespective of their registration status on the unemployment register.

These services are provided free of charge.

Private recruitment agencies

Private companies are not required by law to advertise publicly their job vacancies. They are free to explore various avenues for finding new talent, including recruitment services, advertisements in newspapers, or through other channels.

Private recruitment agencies maintain online databases of job vacancies and allow job seekers to register and respond to recruitment offers.
