Study leave and career development

Public sector employees are entitled to a study leave for continuing education or advanced studies after four years of employment with the same institution.

During the leave, employees continue to receive their regular wages. Under certain conditions, travel and accommodation expenses may be covered. Employers also offer access to various programs to ensure employees stay updated on developments in their field, particularly in professions such as healthcare.

The municipalities also offer a range of career development opportunities and further education programs aimed at boosting employees' skills and professional growth.

Employees on the general labour market can attend education and training courses to maintain their professional knowledge in accordance with the company's overall goals. The company's assessment will determine which courses or conferences are chosen and whether there are any prerequisites for granting a study permit. The employee will keep their regular salary during the course and will be reimbursed for expenses incurred, unless otherwise agreed upon.
