The Fund offers grants to members to attend courses both in Iceland and abroad. 

Travel expenses (flights or travels by car)

Grants are not offered for food expenses, wage loss or travel within cities.

The Fund offers grants to members for studies both in Iceland and abroad. 

The Fund offers grants to members to attend conferences and seminars both in Iceland and abroad. 

The Fund offers grants to members to attend educational trips and organized professional visits both in Iceland and abroad. 

Travel to and from international airports

Applications should be submitted along with the trip's itinerary, along with a signed letter from the trip supervisor or organizer, and/or a participant list verifying the applicant's involvement in the excursion.

The program of an organized professional visit or excursion abroad must be spread over at least two days and the educational program spans a minimum of 8 hours of education. 

The educational program of an organized professional visit or excursion in Iceland must span 6 hours minimum.

The educational program outlines the trip's purpose and nature. Additionally, a comprehensive itinerary detailing the professional aspects of the excursion, including the locations visited, presented materials, and corresponding timings, should be included.

Grants are not offered for food expenses, wage loss or travel within cities.

Educational trips and Organized professional visits

For example, various courses that improve applicants' employability in the field of computer technology and languages are generally eligible, although they are not directly related to the applicant's job or university education.

Grants are not provided for wage loss, food expenses, local travel within cities and municipalities. Moreover, costs associated with self-empowerment, self-help, and leisure courses are not eligible for reimbursement. Expenses related to teaching materials and other materials are also not covered by the fund. Similarly, costs paid using points or other forms of customer credits are not eligible for reimbursement. If expenses are paid using gift certificates, the applicant must provide the payment receipts.

All members who have contributed to the BHM Vocational Eduacation Fund for a total of 6 months, thereof 3 consecutive months, are eligible to apply for grants.

The Board of the BHM Vocational Education Fund is authorized to award additional  grants to Fund members for costs incurred as a result of impaired skills.

The Fund offers grants for studies, courses, conferences, symposiums, educational trips and organized professional visits both in Iceland and abroad. Projects must generally relate to either the Fund member's work or occupational field in order to qualify for funding.

Acquiring fresh knowledge and expertise can unlock new opportunities and empower individuals in their professional journeys. The Vocational Education Fund provides support to its members in their pursuit of ongoing education and knowledge acquisition.

All members who have contributed to the BHM Vocational Education Fund for a total of six months, thereof three consecutive months , are eligible for grants. Eligible projects must be relevant to the fund member's occupation or field of work.

Applications are submitted electronically through My BHM (Mínar síður). Grants are usually disbursed on Thursdays.
